MISSION STATEMENT

It is the intent of Street Voice Digest to inform, educate, enlighten, and entertain the public with our publication. We will address the concerns, causes, and hopefully a means to an end of homelessness.

We hope to empower "our friends without homes" with our publication by giving them a sense of self-worth, a sense of pride, as well as a voice.

A Wish For Thanksgiving

There are thousands of volunteers preparing tens of thousands meals for the homeless and impoverished communities tomorrow across this nation. If I could I would be right there with them. It's a blessing for me to see so many reach out to those in need.

My wish for this and every Thanksgiving is for everyone who possibly can reach out to someone in need.

I'm not asking this on behalf of the homeless, for they, for the most part, will have their's. I'm asking on behalf of your neighbors, people living within your own community, perhaps on your block, maybe even next door. People who have no family or friends available. People who maybe feel forgotten; people who need a reason to be thankful. There are as many different reasons as there are people.

Welcome to our new blog. We hope to continue here what we began with our digest. Our main purpose is to share our experiences, our hopes and dreams with others who may be homeless, or perhaps facing homelessness.

We are without homes not hope. We seek a hand up, not a hand out. For too long the face of homelessness has been the beggar on the corner, the panhandler on the off ramp, the drunk in the alley, or the bag lady feeding pigeons. It is past time to change the face of homelessness.
